Verification says "No evidence found"

The photo was probably sent through a chat app, which re-compresses images and strips the embedded record. Ask the sender to share the photo as a file / document attachment (or as a Provenshot evidence pack .zip), not as an inline chat photo, and verify that original file at provenshot.app/verify.

Verification says "Tampered / Image edited"

That is the product working: the file's pixels no longer match what was sealed at capture. Any edit, crop, filter, or re-compression does this. Request the original sealed file.

The address on the stamp is wrong

Street addresses come from your phone's reverse-geocoding service and can be imprecise. Tap the watermark card before shooting to correct the address — your edit is recorded as a manual entry in the signed record. The GPS coordinates themselves are always recorded as measured.

Where are my photos stored?

In the app's private vault on your phone — nothing is uploaded. Turn on Settings → Save a copy to Photos to also keep copies in your photo library. Deleting a photo in Provenshot permanently removes it and its record. See the privacy policy.

Purchases & refunds

The one-time unlock is processed by the App Store / Google Play. Restore it on a new phone via Unlock → Restore purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple/Google through their standard refund process.

How do I verify a photo without the app?

Open provenshot.app/verify in any browser and drop the original file in. Verification runs inside your browser — the photo is never uploaded. The verifier is open source: source & format spec.
